About this property
Tradition holds that King Alfonso I 'The Catholic' constructed this building on February 21, 746, and excavations conducted during the hotel's refurbishment seem to confirm this. A monastery, run by the Order of San Benito until 1835, once stood on this site. Two rooms display pottery and other archaeological remains discovered during renovations, testaments to this rich history. The Cangas de Onís town center is approximately 1. 5 km away, and Oviedo-Avilés Airport is about 95 km away. Declared a National Monument in 1907, the monastery features a harmonious extension, a jewel nestled on the banks of the River Sella. The hotel's reflection shimmers in the water, with the majestic Picos de Europa as a backdrop. This historic, family-friendly hotel offers comfortable, modern facilities, ideal for exploring the Asturian landscape, experiencing local festivals and folklore, and savoring the region's rich gastronomy. Suitable for leisure and business travelers, the hotel comprises 64 rooms and offers air conditioning, a 24-hour reception, a safe, currency exchange, three lifts, a café, a TV lounge, a restaurant, and conference facilities. Guests can also enjoy Wi-Fi (charges apply), room service, and laundry service (both incur additional fees). Parking and a playground are also available.
